Flowy or oversized tops add volume on volume and can overwhelm the wide leg; if you prefer a relaxed top, keep it cropped above the waistband.

Layering: Cropped jackets, blazers, and cardigans that end at or just above the hip are the most flattering over a palazzo leg — they define the waist without competing with the sweep of the fabric.
